PRIVATE CEMETERY & GARDEN // Instrumental Architecture Studio II // Professors Jim Williamson + Lorena Del Rio The industrial architecture of the Lumbermill hinges on the modularity of the log floating down the river, the formal mill, and the stacks of drying lumber. This module’s increasing hierarchy was combined with the edited column grid of Jorn Utzon’s Can Lis in Majorica, Spain to form a space of reflection and serenity in remembrance of the deceased. A dense front wall gives way to separate cantilevering spaces oriented towards the lake, framing views of the landscape.
