Boathouse in Ithaca
LOOKOUT // Community boathouse // Ithaca, NY Semester IV // Professor Arthur Ovaska Sited on Cass Park, just north of the finish line, This boathouse serves the public by pushing the Lockers and boats under a berm of earth and allowing a continuation of the public space on the entry level. This transparent outdoor roof terrace level contains a cafe and circulation space, allowing for multiple community or rowing uses and provides a lookout point over the inlet. Circulating down , there are lockers and boat storage that open up to the waterline via large garage doors. On the Third Level, the flexible space can contain dozens of sweaty athletes or a wedding reception and has full glazing facing the water. The top roof terrace identifies the boathouse as a lookout and continues the function of the boathouse.
