Robotic wood construction Prof Sasa Zivcovik // Collaboration WITH Eda Begum Birol Wood is both age-old craft and next generation high-tech sustainable building material. By utilizing mass customized robotic assemblies, advanced sustainable material explorations, and automated manufacturing processes, we created innovative construction methods for wood. After building a bandsaw attachment for the Kuka robot arm and adjustable frame mounting system, we worked with the strengths of the robot to carve paths to hold a rope. An expanded lashed joint was developed to bind timber structure together and create varied spatial qualities and effects.
